The Downtown Growers’ Market has been in operation for 23 years supporting local farmers, food makers, artisans, health & wellness creators and our community. Due to the coronavirus outbreak we will only be able to offer our farmers and food vendors at the market for the time being. Our non-food vendors, extra programming and other social aspects have been put on hold until we are given the okay from city and state government to bring the full market back. Until then we are working hard to keep Albuquerque citizens connected to all of our vendors in a variety of ways. Please visit our Vendors page where we list all of our vendors and provide links to their websites or social media accounts. Follow our updates below for how we are providing other ways to connect customers.
The DGM is an essential food outlet and we are committed to keeping it open as is possible. Keeping our community safe is also a top priority; if we are instructed to close by a local health authority or feel we cannot offer a safe market due to concerns about COVID-19 we will reassess and look into other ways to connect Albuquerque to our vibrant family of vendors. If changes happen, we may not have much advanced notice, but we will let the public know as soon as possible.
We will notify customers in these ways: email Newsletter (sign up below), social media, and this website.

UPDATE: April 17, 2020: MARKET POSTPONED AT ROBINSON PARK UNTIL FURTHER NOTICE NOW OFFERING FARM TO CAR!
We have had to make the hard decision to continue to postpone the Market at Robinson Park until further notice. The current restriction on essential businesses to reduce capacity to 20% or less has presented challenges for the market that are beyond our means. Once this restriction is lifted we will work to have the Market at the Robinson Park again. When we are able to offer a physical market again we will still only be able to have farmer and food vendors and will move forward with our current COVID-19 operating plan. (See the full plan linked above). We will wait for direction from our State and City officials on when we can have the full market again (non-food vendors, programming, etc.).
Until then we are working hard to expand and improve our FARM TO CAR option! More vendors will be updated weekly. We are also able to extend this option to our non-food vendors. The DGM hosts 200 farmers, prepared food, artisan and health & wellness vendors each year. These are the small, local, self owned, family owned and neighbor owned businesses that need our continued support through this pandemic. If you have the means please continue to to keep that money in our local economy. This Farm to Car option is also EBT/SNAP friendly. The Market participates in the Double Up Food Bucks Program through EBT/SNAP ($10=$20!) on fresh produce and plant starts. Feel free to reach out with any questions as we navigate these changes! (Contact listed at bottom of website)
UPDATE: April 10, 2020: Farm to Car is now LIVE
In response to the coronavirus pandemic, the Downtown Growers' Market is offering direct ordering from some of our farm & food vendors and an organized pick up for customers. Pick up is happening Saturdays 10am-1pm Fusion Theatre: 708 1st St. NW This pre-ordering set up is meant to be similar to your Market shopping experience at Robinson Park. Browse the vendors individually, browse their products and order from them directly. Go the the Pre-Order Pick Up tab above for instructions and to start ordering!
UPDATE: April 2, 2020: Market postponed until May 2
After much deliberation and surveys from both our vendors and customers, it has become clear for our need to post pone the Market until May 2. We want this to be a safe and positive experience for everyone and are working hard to consider every aspect. We will be using those extra weeks to source more supplies and execute a solid plan for the Market at Robinson Park.
In the interim we are working to offer a way for you to order directly from participating vendors on our website. Along with that we are organizing a drive/walk through pick up. This will take place Saturday April 18 & 25 at our Winter Market location: Fusion Theatre with time to be determined. We will be requiring customers to sign up for a pick up time slot ahead of time to keep things organized and socially distanced. More details on this to come as we are still organizing vendors and setting up the online platform. We will still be taking EBT/SNAP and offering Double Up Food Bucks for products that qualify.
More updates soon! Please know that we have every intention to offer the market by May. We are doing our best to balance the importance of local food access, keeping everyone as safe as possible and keeping a close watch on this changing and growing pandemic.
UPDATE: March 24, 2020
As of March 23, 2020 farmers markets were included as an essential business by the State of New Mexico. Our Growers’ Market provides Albuquerque with access to locally grown, fresh, nutritious foods and is also able to offer Doubled SNAP benefits, along with accepting other food access programs: WIC, Senior checks and Fresh RX Prescriptions. For details see our Payment Options page. With this new determination we are currently planning to offer the Downtown Growers’ Market on our original start date of Saturday, April 18 at Robinson Park. To accommodate public health concerns around the COVID-19 virus we will be making many changes to the market to help keep our customers, vendors and staff safe. Some of these changes include:
We will only have food vendors at the market (no artisan, cut flowers or non-food plant vendors)
No programming (music, yoga, educational booths, etc)
No product sampling is allowed
To accommodate for social distancing our vendors will be spaced 12 feet apart
Prepared food vendors can only sell their food to go: no eating or hanging out at the park
Only vendors are allowed to handle their products- customers can shop with their eyes and indicate what they want to purchase without touching products
The Market and vendors will provide hand washing stations and hand sanitizer (as is available)
Porta Potty is for vendor and staff use only
No socializing is allowed at the market. We ask you to come, shop and leave. We will ask you to end conversations if we see this happening.
Please note that plans are subject to change and we will continue to update our customers and the public as anything new arises. In order to continue to provide this local food resource to the public we ask that you take all precautions seriously and continue to support your local farmers and small businesses!
